My name is Gerry, I'm a ghostwriter and Spanish/English literary translator for Big Five and indie presses in the US and UK. My ten-plus books include Cristina Morales's Easy Reading, which received a PEN/Heim Grant and an English PEN Award; Elaine Vilar Madruga's The Tyranny of Flies, for which I received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship; and Ousman Umar's memoir North to Paradise, which spent two months among Amazon's one hundred bestselling books and several days among its top ten.
As a ghostwriter, I specialize in English-language books by authors who prefer to conduct the interview and writing process in Spanish (though I also love working with English-speaking authors). To protect my clients' privacy, I can't go into detail about my experience as a ghostwriter, but please get in touch to learn more.
As a translator, I work with literary fiction from Spain and Latin America. Between book projects, I take on commercial translation jobs for a variety of clients, with a focus on museums: my work has appeared in exhibitions at the Prado Museum, the US National Gallery of Art, the Vatican Museums, the Vienna Kunsthalle, the Phillips Collection, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. I also head the FTrMP Project, an effort to make Spanish translations of vital migration paperwork available for free online.
